Where Did the Idea for MYPE Come From?

A Letter from the Creator of My Perfect Economy

Dear Friend,

In March 2009, I had a profound experience that changed my life. I was invited by a business associate, friend and mentor to go on a trip to Nicaragua with the social organization Impact Nations to volunteer in some humanitarian aid and economic sustainability projects. What happened during my two week “Journey of Compassion” would challenge me in ways I never imagined and provide the inspirational spark to create My Perfect Economy. The bad news was I could no longer be ignorant of the poverty and injustice I encountered on my journey. The good news was I knew I could do something about it.

Several weeks prior to leaving for Nicaragua, I had an insight while contemplating what I really wanted in my personal and professional life. I began reflecting upon certain people who I considered both successful and happy. I realized that these individuals I looked up to seemed to constantly seek a balance in their lives in four equal areas: Ideas, People, Money and their Purpose and Passion in life.

It was while I was in Nicaragua, lying in my bed exhausted from a week of medical clinics and feeding centers that everything came together. I had an amazing revelation of how in order to be successful we needed to connect something called “Creative Capital”.

I realized that the healthiest, balanced and successful people in the world are entrepreneurs of Creative Capital in four distinct expressions: Intellectual Capital (Big Ideas), Human Capital (Great People), Financial Capital (Smart Money) and Social Capital (Purpose & Passion).

I also realized that one did not need to be rich and start with just Financial Capital – that all you really needed was a big idea and be passionate enough to invest it into others.

My big idea starts with the vision to create what I call “Millennial Millionaires.” Millennial Millionaires are the next generation of entrepreneurs who understand what it means to be, “blessed to be a blessing.” And I am not just referring to financial giving. We have so much else to give and get to have fun giving it!

I have had the privilege of investing this big idea into a number of people who have made their commitments and contributions. We have attracted top partners from multiple industries including some of the smartest business minds I am thankful to call friends and family.

More and more people have stepped up to the challenge and are going on their own Journeys of Compassion to other areas of the world like India, Africa, Philippines and back to Nicaragua. They have all come back completely transformed. And not only are international projects on the go, but local initiatives to make an impact in our own backyards are popping up every day!

This validates my belief that the more people and businesses we help build their perfect economies, the more passion and resources we release into the world.

I really believe that together we can become Millennial Millionaires and find success and change the world at the same time. I want to personally invite you to the adventure!

Ed Kang
